#NaNoWriMo

November is a month that I’ve feared for a long time. So many of my amazing writer friends sign up to this strange thing called Nanowrimo and lose themselves for a month.

I thought about doing it myself, often. Then I realised how silly I was being and didn’t. I’m easily in awe I’d those that did, however. FIFTY THOUSAND WORDS! Doesn’t it sound like a lot?

Well, it is.

But, my good friend Rachel Meinke, @knightsrachel on Wattpad and pretty much everywhere else, bullied me into having a go. By bullied, I mean she said I could do it, she had faith.

The result is Dorthy

Dorthy is a ‘savage’ retelling of The Wizard of Oz – though, if I was doing a retelling, you wouldn’t expect anything else, would you? Dorothy finds herself in a strange land full of zombies, werewolves and a serial killing metal man who’s trying to rebuild himself from the body parts of his victims!

Oh, and a ghost dog.

The comments for Dorthy have been amazing so far. I’ve been told it’s readers’ favourite story of mine. I’ve been told it’s beautiful. Nasty. So many more.

And, did I make the 50k?

Yes. Yes I did! And the story is still going strong!

You can find Dorthy here on Wattpad if you’d like to go somewhere over the rainbow!
